[What and Why:]

Microsoft is updating several Microsoft 365 usage reports to improve reporting accuracy and streamline analytics experiences. Microsoft Browser and Visio usage reports will receive metric calculation improvements. These changes help administrators access more accurate and workload-specific analytics.

  • Microsoft Browser usage report updates: September 21, 2026
  • Visio usage report updates: September 21, 2026

Who is affected:

  • Microsoft 365 tenant administrators
  • Organizations using Microsoft Browser and Visio
  • Organizations consuming Microsoft Graph Reports API browser usage metrics

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Graph Reports API (beta)
  • Microsoft Visio

What will happen:

  • Microsoft Browser reporting will include additional Microsoft 365 applications such as Microsoft 365 Copilot App, OneNote, and Outlook.
  • Microsoft Browser active-user counts may increase after September 21, 2026. 
  • Microsoft Visio active-user counts may increase after September 21, 2026. Visio Desktop and Web usage classifications will be updated.
  • Historical reporting data will not be recalculated.

[Action Required / Recommendations:]

  • Review reporting and dashboards that depend on Microsoft Browser or Visio metrics.
  • Record September 21, 2026 as a reporting baseline change date.
  • Validate any Microsoft Graph Reports API integrations.
