Full post

If your organization does not use Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN) integration support in Microsoft Edge for Android, you can safely disregard this message.

[What and Why:]

Microsoft is retiring Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN) integration support in Microsoft Edge for Android, beginning with Edge version 153. Citrix mVPN integration in Edge for Android depends on legacy third-party components that present ongoing compatibility and maintenance challenges as Android platform requirements continue to evolve.

To help ensure a secure, reliable, and supportable experience for Microsoft Edge users, Microsoft will retire Citrix mVPN integration support in Edge for Android.

[Rollout Schedule:]

  • Retirement begins in mid-September 2026.

[Impact on Your Organization:]

Who is affected:

  • Organizations that currently use Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN) integration with Microsoft Edge for Android.
  • Users who rely on Citrix mVPN to access internal corporate resources through Microsoft Edge for Android.
  • Admins responsible for mobile access, Android device support, or Edge for Android configuration.

Platforms/Services:

  • Microsoft Edge for Android
  • Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN)
  • Android devices

What will happen:

  • Microsoft Edge for Android will no longer integrate with Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN).
  • Users who rely on Citrix mVPN to access internal corporate resources through Edge for Android may need to migrate to an alternative supported mobile access solution.
  • Existing workflows that depend specifically on Citrix mVPN integration in Edge for Android may no longer function as expected.
  • This change affects only Citrix mVPN integration and does not impact other Microsoft Edge for Android capabilities.

[Action Required/Recommendations:]

Administrators should take the following actions:

  • Identify affected users: Determine whether your organization currently uses Citrix Mobile VPN (mVPN) with Microsoft Edge for Android.
  • Review dependencies: Assess business workflows, applications, and internal sites that depend on Citrix mVPN integration in Edge for Android.
  • Plan a migration strategy: Evaluate and validate alternative supported mobile access solutions that meet your organization's requirements.
  • Communicate with impacted users: Inform users of the upcoming change and provide guidance on approved replacement solutions.
  • Complete migration before retirement: Ensure affected users transition away from Citrix mVPN-dependent workflows before support is removed.

[Compliance considerations:]

No compliance considerations identified. Review as appropriate for your organization.
