[What and why]

We are retiring selected Search Analytics capabilities for the following search experiences:

  • Microsoft/Bing Search, including Work Search
  • Teams Search
  • Outlook/WXP Search, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Windows Search Work results
  • Microsoft365.com

This retirement applies to Summary, User/Query, and Answer Analytics associated with these search experiences within Search & intelligence > Insights in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This change is limited to the analytics capabilities listed above. It does not:

  • Retire the Search & intelligence > Insights experience as a whole
  • Affect SharePoint Search Analytics
  • Affect Connector Analytics
  • Change users' ability to search in any of the affected applications

[Rollout schedule]

  • Worldwide, GCC: Rollout will begin in late November 2026 and is expected to complete by mid-December 2026.

[Impact on your organization]

Who is affected

  • Administrators who use Summary, User/Query, or Answer Analytics for the affected search experiences.

Platforms and services

  • Microsoft 365 admin center, Search & intelligence > Insights
  • Microsoft/Bing Search, including Work Search
  • Teams Search
  • Outlook/WXP Search, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Windows Search Work results
  • Microsoft365.com

What will happen

  • After the retirement reaches your tenant, administrators will no longer be able to access Summary, User/Query, or Answer Analytics for the affected search experiences.
  • Other Search Analytics capabilities not listed in this notice remain outside the scope of this retirement.
  • SharePoint Search Analytics and Connector Analytics are not affected.
  • Users' ability to search in the affected applications will not change.

[Action required and recommendations]

No action is required if your organization does not use these analytics capabilities. Otherwise, we recommend that you:

  • Review whether your organization relies on the affected Summary, User/Query, or Answer Analytics reports.
  • Identify administrators or reporting stakeholders who use these reports, filters, exports, or related reporting integrations.
  • Export or retain any required analytics data before retirement, subject to the confirmed historical-data availability.
  • Update any reporting processes or integrations that depend on the affected analytics capabilities.
