[What and why]

Starting November 30, 2026, attendees in Microsoft Teams meetings will no longer be able to translate slides into another language in PowerPoint Live by using Change view > Translate slides. Other PowerPoint Live features for presenters and attendees are not affected.

[Rollout schedule]

  • Retirement (Worldwide): Beginning and completing in late November 2026
  • Translate slides will be removed for all attendees on November 30, 2026

[Impact on your organization]

Who is affected

  • Attendees who use Translate slides in PowerPoint Live during Microsoft Teams meetings

Platforms and services

  • Microsoft Teams meetings
  • PowerPoint Live

What will happen

  • Attendees will no longer see the Translate slides option in PowerPoint Live under Change view > Translate slides.
  • Attendees will see slides in the language in which they were created.
  • Presenting with PowerPoint Live and other attendee viewing options are not affected.
  • There is no admin setting to manage this change.
  • No admin action is required.
  • Most organizations will see little impact because only a very small share of PowerPoint Live sessions use this option.

[Action required and recommendations]

No action is required to prepare for this change. Translate slides will be removed automatically for all attendees on November 30, 2026.

We recommend that you:

  • Notify presenters and users in your organization about this change, especially teams that present to audiences who speak different languages.
  • Ask presenters to share slides in the languages their audiences need ahead of time.
  • Update internal training or help content that mentions Translate slides in PowerPoint Live.

[Compliance considerations]

No compliance considerations identified. Review as appropriate for your organization.
