Title: Users in South America may have been unable to use multiple Microsoft 365 services
User impact: Users in South America may have been unable to access or experience degraded functionality with multiple services.

Final status: We've confirmed that the issue is resolved after an extended period of monitoring.
Scope of impact: The majority of reports were from users in Colombia.
Start time: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:15 PM UTC
End time: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2:39 PM UTC
Root cause: A fiber event in the Colombia region shifted traffic onto a alternate network path, which became congested. This resulted in intermittent packet loss, traffic drops, slower connectivity, and/or higher latency. More details are provided within the Post-Incident Report.

Current status: We've rerouted traffic through alternate network paths and telemetry shows the service had recovered by 2:50 PM UTC. We're monitoring to validate full recovery.
