User impact: Users may have been unable to activate new or refresh existing Office 365 licenses.
More info: For the users who were unable to activate or refresh Office 365 licenses, this prevented them from signing in or accessing Office 365 applications.
Users may have received multiple prompts; however, the activation process may have failed when they attempted to sign in.
Final status: After a brief period of monitoring, we confirmed that our service is healthy and users are no longer impacted by this event.
Scope of impact: Some users attempting to activate new or refresh existing Office 365 licenses may have been impacted.

Preliminary root cause: A processing bottleneck within the service reduced its ability to handle incoming requests efficiently. As request volume accumulated, some requests experienced delays or timed out before they could be completed.
Next steps:
-We’re further investigating the bottleneck so we can determine what originally caused it and prevent similar future issues from leading to service impact.
We'll provide a preliminary Post-Incident Report within two business days and a final Post-Incident Report within five business days.

We’re continuing to monitor closely as we incrementally restore traffic in the environment; however, the infrastructure hasn't returned to normal health as expected. We’re continuing to analyze recent changes made to the service so we can isolate and address a root cause while we in parallel explore options to further optimize the infrastructure and mitigate impact.

Current status: The backlog on a portion of affected Office 365 infrastructure has been processed, and we’re reintroducing traffic to the environment. We’re monitoring this process closely to ensure it completes as expected and in parallel, we’re continuing to investigate the underlying cause of impact.

We're reviewing recent service updates to isolate potential sources of impact or discrepancies that could be causing this impact to users.
