Title: Admins may see outdated/incomplete data in workspace settings of Power BI or Microsoft Fabric services
User impact: Admins may have seen outdated/incomplete data in workspace settings of Power BI or Microsoft Fabric services.
More info: Workspace admins may have seen outdated or incomplete information when viewing workspace settings, including Capacity Details, Domain settings, Contacts, OneDrive settings, and Semantic Model Storage Format. Configuration changes continued to apply successfully; however, updated values may have not been reflected in workspace settings after changes were saved or the page was refreshed.
Final status: We've addressed the issue blocking our deployment pipeline, initiated and completed the deployment of our fix to all affected environments, and confirmed through monitoring service health telemetry that the impact has been remediated.
Scope of impact: Impact was specific to some admins attempting to view the current state of workspace settings in the Power BI or Microsoft Fabric service.
Start time: Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 4:12 AM UTC
End time: Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 2:27 PM UTC
Root cause: A code regression was causing workspace settings requests to incorrectly identify the caller for the request as a tenant admin instead of a workspace admin, resulting in the authorization check being rejected.
Next steps:
- We're reviewing the offending code regression to understand how it was introduced into the service, so that we can prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.
This is the final update for the event.

Current status: After further analysis of service monitoring telemetry, we’ve isolated that impact is caused by a code regression causing workspace settings requests to incorrectly identify the caller for the request as a tenant admin instead of a workspace admin. This causes the authorization check to be rejected, resulting in impact. We’re validating and testing a code fix to correct this regression, and we aim to provide a timeline to remediation as soon as possible.
