In Classic view settings, a user would have needed to apply a 'First group by' and then a 'Then group by' to become impacted. Final status: The deployment has completed and we've confirmed that the issue is resolved. Start time: Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:12 AM UTC End time: Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 5:50 AM UTC Root cause: A recent change, intended to improve defense-in-depth and resiliency, contained a code bug for the service component responsible for rendering double grouped views in SharePoint Online document libraries and lists, causing impact. Specifically, a new section of code was implemented and was supposed to replace an existing code line. However, a miss in the code implementation process resulted in the initial code line remaining after the change. These code sections interacted together and resulted in an output where the request flows for combined “group by” field scenarios started to look up a specific parameter value that did not exist. As the required parameter could not be found, the requests failed and resulted in impact to multiple “grouped by” views.
