Title: Users may be unable to perform migrations
User impact: Users may have been unable to perform migrations using the Migration Manager Platform (MMP) API.
More info: Migrations that use the Migration Manager Platform (MMP) API were impacted. This includes migrations initiated from Microsoft 365 Admin Center and third-party migrations. Migrations using SPMT (SharePoint Migration Tool) were not impacted.
Final status: We’ve finished the deployment of our fix to all impacted environments and have confirmed that impact is fully resolved.
Scope of impact: Admins attempting to migrate using the Migration Manager Platform (MMP) API were impacted.
Start time: Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 9:49 AM UTC
End time: Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 5:50 PM UTC
Root cause: A configuration issue made components that facilitate migrations leveraging the MMP API unavailable, which prevented users from performing certain migrations.
Next steps:
- We're reviewing the affected system component configurations to identify improvements that could prevent similar issues from occurring.
This is the final update for the event.
