Title: Users may be unable to close the share tray when using the "Share window" feature in Microsoft Teams town halls
User impact: Users may have been unable to close the share tray when using the "Share window" feature in Microsoft Teams town halls.
More info: Impacted users may have done any of the following as a temporary alternative:
- Stop window sharing, click "Back" on the share tray, and then resume sharing
- Leave the Town Hall and rejoin
- Use the "share screen" feature instead of the "share window" feature, which wouldn’t display the share tray
Final status: We've verified that our code fix has fully deployed into the impacted environment and all users are now able to close the share tray through any method in Microsoft Teams town halls.
Scope of impact: Any user who used the "Share window" feature in Microsoft Teams town halls may have been affected and may have been unable to close the share tray feature while window sharing.
Start time: Monday, June 29, 2026, at 4:36 AM UTC
End time: Monday, August 10, 2026, at 8:10 PM UTC
Root cause: A recent deployment of a feature change introduced a code conflict, which resulted in users being unable to close the share tray when using the "Share window" feature in Microsoft Teams town halls.
Next steps: - We're continuing to optimize our code development and testing procedures to ensure pre-emptive remediation of potential code conflicts prior to deployment to users.
This is the final update for the event.
