Title: Some users conferenced into a Microsoft Teams emergency call may not be automatically muted or able to mute themselves
User impact: Users conferenced into a Microsoft Teams emergency call may not have been automatically muted or able to mute themselves.
Final status: We've confirmed that our fix has deployed as expected and that users are now automatically muted when or can mute themselves when they're conferenced in to a Microsoft Teams call.
Scope of impact: Users conferenced into a Microsoft Teams emergency call and attempting to mute their audio were affected by this issue.
Start time: Friday, September 25, 2026, at 8:09 PM UTC
End time: Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM UTC
Root cause: A code mismatch in the components utilized when marking a Microsoft Teams emergency call as a multi-party call caused the code to mute participants to not be enabled as expected.
Next steps:
- We're continuing to optimize Teams emergency calls for all user scenarios.
This is the final update for the event.
