What and why

Outlook for Mac will support Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention \(DLP\) policies for calendar events. Organizations can detect and help prevent the sharing of sensitive information in meeting subjects, descriptions, and invite content through policy tips, user remediation, and policy enforcement. This provides consistent compliance protection across email and calendar experiences on Mac devices.

Rollout schedule

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out on late September 2026 and expect to complete by late September 2026.

Impact on your organization

This feature helps organizations extend Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention protections to calendar events created in Outlook for Mac. Users receive policy guidance before sending meeting invitations that contain sensitive information, helping reduce accidental data exposure and improve compliance. Organizations benefit from more consistent protection across email and calendar workflows while supporting regulatory and corporate data protection requirements.

Action required, Recommendations

No administrator action is required to prepare for this feature. Existing Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policies will automatically apply to supported calendar events in Outlook for Mac. Organizations with DLP policies already configured can benefit from expanded protection of calendar content without additional policy creation or client configuration. Administrators may choose to review existing DLP policies to ensure they align with their organization's compliance requirements.
