[What and why]

We’re introducing multi-select and bulk mail actions in Outlook search results on Android. Users can select multiple email results and take supported actions on those messages in one step, making it faster to organize and manage email found through search. This capability is already available in Outlook for iOS and is now coming to Android.

[Rollout schedule]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out in mid-October 2026 and expect to complete by late October 2026.

[Impact on your organization]

Who is affected

  •  Outlook for Android users

Platforms and services

  •  Microsoft Outlook for Android. This capability is already available in Outlook for iOS.

What will happen

  • Users can select multiple email results and take supported actions on those messages in one step.
  • Supported actions include organizing, moving, archiving, deleting, or reporting applicable messages.
  • The change reduces the time required to manage several messages found through search.
  • The Android search experience will more closely align with the existing Outlook for iOS experience.

[Action required and recommendations]

No administrator action is required. We recommend that you:

  • Inform your help desk and users about the new multi-select experience.
  • Update internal Outlook mobile documentation if it includes instructions for managing search results.
  • Encourage users to keep Outlook for Android updated through the Google Play Store.

[Compliance considerations]

No compliance considerations identified. Review as appropriate for your organization.
