Updated November 3, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[What and why]

A new streaming switchboard in Microsoft Teams will allow event producers to more easily manage and send NDI® sources to production software during Teams meetings and events. Event producers can individually select and stream up to eight NDI sources directly from a Teams meeting or event.

[Rollout schedule]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Beginning in mid-November 2026 (previously early November) and expected to complete by mid-November 2026

[Impact on your organization]

Who is affected

  • Event producers who use NDI streaming in Microsoft Teams meetings and events

Platforms and services

  • Microsoft Teams

What will happen

  • Event producers will be able to individually select and stream up to eight NDI sources from a Teams meeting or event.
  • To access the feature during a meeting or event, select More actions, then Streaming > Streaming switchboard.
  • Admins must enable NDI streaming before users can use the feature.
  • Users must turn on production capabilities in Teams before using NDI broadcast production.

[Action required and recommendations]

To prepare:

QuestionAnswer
Does the change add any integration to third-party software products, and if so, what?Yes. NDI® enables Microsoft Teams meeting content to be sent to production software.
Does the change include an admin control, and can it be controlled through Entra ID group membership?Yes. Admins can control NDI® streaming through the AllowNDIStreaming setting in CsTeamsMeetingPolicy. The provided source does not specify whether the control can be managed through Entra ID group membership.
Does the change allow a user to enable and disable the feature themselves?Yes. After an admin enables NDI streaming, users must turn on production capabilities in Teams.
